Welcome

The Bible says in Hebrews 12:1 that every Christian who has accepted Jesus Christ as their personal Saviour is then enlisted in a “RACE” by God, one which they are obligated to “RUN”:

Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of [angelic] witnesses [1 Peter 1:12], let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and LET US RUN WITH PATIENCE THE RACE THAT IS SET BEFORE US,”  (Hebrews 12:1)
KNOW YE NOT THAT THEY WHICH RUN IN A RACE RUN ALL, but ONE RECEIVETH THE PRIZE? So RUN, THAT YE MAY OBTAIN.”  (1 Corinthians 9:24)
I [Paul] have fought a good fight, I HAVE FINISHED MY COURSE [or ‘RACE’], I have kept the faith:  8 Henceforth there is laid up for me A CROWN OF RIGHTEOUSNESS, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.”  (2 Timothy 4:7-8)

What does ‘The Race’ represent?

This “Race” has the following features:

  • It is spiritual in nature.
  • Every Christian is required to participate in The Race.
  • God has established The Race for the purposes of purifying and perfecting His people.

For Christians to be successful in this “RACE“, they must:

— First train for it
(Luke 12:47; 2 Tim 2:15);
— Remove all unnecessary weight from their Inner Man (i.e. “…let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us”) – Hebrews 12:1; Eph. 3:16 .
— Wear the appropriate footwear (Eph. 6:15)
— STRIVE (Luke 13:24) towards the Finish Line (1 Peter 1:9) by:
— ENDURING TO THE END to be Finally Saved
(Matt 10:22; Matt 24:13; Mark 13:13).

What does The Race appear like?

In the illustration below, the following Biblical features are portrayed in this image that relate to scripture.

The Race that is set before every Christian - Hebrews 12:1
The Race that is set before every Christian – Hebrews 12:1
  • The Celestial city (known as Heaven) where the Gate called “Strait” is located (Matt. 7:13)
  • The hill with two crosses – Christ’s cross and the Christian’s cross
  • The “Fiery Trials” will be encountered along the ‘Narrow Way” (1 Peter 4:12; Matt. 7:14)
  • The “Narrow Way” at the sign post commences at the “Broad Way” (Matt. 7:13-14)
  • Each Christian’s burden for Christ (symbolised as a cross) is required to be taken up and carried along the “Narrow Way” via the “Fiery Trials” that lead to the Christian’s personal ‘Calvary’ (Matt. 11:30; 7:13; 1 Peter 4:12; John 15:19-21).
  • The “Broad Way” represents Christians who hold a particular ‘religious view of the Bible that they prefer to follow.  In the Bible it is termed, Christians using their “carnal mind” in which to find eternal life via their preferred religious leaders.  The Bible says such Christians are therefore an enemy of God (Romans 8:6-7).

Challenge

My Gospel blog aims to challenge Christians in the ways they think about Jesus and His words. It is aimed to help them determine whether they have believed the ONLY Gospel message that “saves” (after one dies). Alternatively, do Christians prefer to believe one of the many false gospels that will not save their soul after they die (Gal 1:6-7).

The challenge presented here also aims to encourage those who love Christ and want to become like the Bereans who have “searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so” (Acts 17:11).
