Part 1 of the Spirit, Soul and the Body series examined the spiritual ‘organs’ God has provided to us within our “Inner Man“. This article examines how God has stated in scripture what the dietary needs of Our Inner man are and how we must care for him.

All living creatures on Earth that God has made require food to not only grow into maturity, but to prevent from dying.  This is because any shortage of food leads to starvation and death.  The same goes for the human soul, which needs an appropriate diet for our Inner Man to grow and to thrive:

“… but though OUR OUTWARD [physical] MAN perish [through ageing], yet THE INWARD [spiritual]  MAN is renewed day by day [by feeding upon God's words].”  (2 Cor 4:16)

“That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in THE INNER MAN;”  (Eph 3:16)

Jesus Christ warned His people that they MUST “feed upon EVERY word of God” so as to prevent the starving of their ‘Inner Man’:

Most Christians do not appreciate that they have their own personal Spirit which is contained within their physical Body termed the Outer Man. The Outer Man also contains their Inner Man that the scriptures refer to as the Soul.

The presence of both the human Spirit within the Soul is termed the “Inward Man” as shown in the scripture verse below. It is this invisible spiritual component of “mankind” that departs the body when death occurs—to spend the remainder of eternity elsewhere.

"...but though our OUTWARD [physical body] MAN perish [as it ages], yet the INWARD [spiritual] MAN is renewed day by day [by feeding on the word of God—Hebrews 5:12-14].”  (2 Corinthians 4:16)

This article is the first one in a series that aims to help Christians understand more about their spiritual ‘organs’ that our Creator has given us—and from this, obtain a better understanding as to how the spirit world around us functions.

This teaching aims to emphasize the spiritual level of understanding about how our bodies function. This is because Jesus said:

"For to be CARNALLY MINDED is death; but to be SPIRITUALLY MINDED is life and peace.”  (Romans 8:6)

Our physical BODY also contains our SPIRIT and SOUL; and within our SOUL, the Bible says is our HEART.

This article follows on from the previous article in the series titled “Spirit, Soul and Body – the MIND“.

Our physical BODY also contains our SPIRIT and SOUL, and the Bible indicates our SPIRIT (with our CONSCIENCE) is located in the purely spiritual realms.

This article examines how EVIL SPIRITS influence our spiritual ‘organs‘ and how they sometimes affect the functions and controlling controlling of our body. It also looks at how our Spirit can oppose and overcome these influences.

The highlighted section of the image below represents the “evil spirits” that can adversely affect our health, our emotional welfare and our spiritual relationship with our Creator.  We will also look at how evil spirits communicate with our spiritual ‘organs’ during their enticement of us to commit acts of sin.

This article looks at how God communicates with mankind through our personal Spirit, to our Soul and the various ‘spiritual organs’ within our Soul and Body. It also looks at how God attempts to influence the decisions we make in life.

How does God communicate with mankind?

Part 1 of the Spirit, Soul and the Body series examined the spiritual ‘organs’ God has provided to us within our “Inner Man“. However, the Bible contains many strange statements that are not easily understood – especially the warning to “walking in the spirit” and to not “walk in the flesh“:

“There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but [who walk] after the Spirit.”  (Romans 8:1)

Much research and questioning is often required to discover what these topics truly mean and the doctrines below closely associate with “walking in the Spirit“. 

• Holiness (Heb 12:14-16)
• Sanctification (1 Thes 4:4)
• Righteousness (Matt 5:20)
• Truth (John 18:38)
• Predestination (Rom 8:29)

Therefore, this article will endeavor to explain what “Walking in the Spirit” vs “Walking in the Flesh” means from the Bible’s perspective.
