Understanding My Gospel

The Apostle Paul termed “My Gospel’ and his other teachings a “mystery”. He therefore required Christians to develop knowledge, wisdom and understanding of the scriptures (Col 1:9) to attain spiritual maturity so as to fully appreciate what he was saying.

Paul also stated that “OBEDIENCE of the faith” (Rom 16:26) is a basic requirement of Salvation. Such “Obedience” must be understood and applied in the Christian life (Rom 10:16) for salvation to be achieved.

The ‘Mystery’ of the Gospel

If Paul considered ‘My Gospel’ to be a “mystery”, why then are the modern gospels so simple in their presentation? Could it be that there is MORE to the True Gospel of Jesus Christ than most Christians have been told or believe? Have the modern gospels replaced “obedience” with tolerance and “love” (Phil 1:17)?

Part 1: The Generations of the Heavens and the Earth

The Apostle Peter speaks in the Bible about “The Generations of the Heavens and the Earth” in 2 Peter 3:7 in much the same way as we speak of grand parents, children and grand children, as revealed in the three passages of scripture verses below:

Part 2: The Old Heavens and the Earth

Before a Christian can “walk in the Spirit” (Rom 8:1), it is necessary to accept some basic Biblical truths. One of these is the “Old Heavens and the Earth” mentioned in 2 Peter 3:5-7 involving Lucifer’s Flood.

Some Christians may question why there is a need to have any knowledge about such things, but God has His plans for mankind. In this, God has revealed His “secret things” to His prophets throughout all generations (Acts 3:21). Therefore God requires every child of His to listen, learn and understand what he wants to reveal to them (Rev 2:7)

Part 3: The Present Heavens and Earth

Following on from Part 2, this article looks at the present Heavens and Earth. It describes how Lucifer (now Satan) is influencing humanity to bring about God’s judgment.

Scripture indicates that before the “Heavens and Earth” were created (2 Peter 3:5, 7) and there was “the beginning” (Gen 1:1). This was where God established to send His Son Jesus Christ to the Earth 2,000 years ago as stated below:

Part 4: The End of the Age

Following on from Part 3 ‘The Present Heavens and Earth‘, this article covers the period of the End of the Age. It commences from the event of Christ’s resurrection from the dead until He returns again the the Earth at His Second Coming.

The image below reveals a 7,000-year timeline that relates to the Present Earth’s history – Label 3. This period also highlights significant events that have occurred on the Earth in the past, and the other labels of 4, 6 and 6 that the Bible says will occur in the future. These periods are briefly discussed below.

Part 5: The New Heavens and New Earth

With reference to the image below and Label 6, it is God’s intention for the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit to dwell in the New Heavens and the New Earth. In this, the Present Earth we now live on will have been purified and cleansed by fire from all the pollution it has suffered over the past 6,000 years. It will be re-made to be like it was in the Garden of Eden when Adam and Eve cared for God’s creation prior to them sinning.
