What Does ‘Walking in the Spirit’ Mean?

Walking in the Spirit with Jesus

Estimated reading time: 7 minutes

Galatians 5:16 says: ‘Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.’

Most sermons treat this as a disposition, an attitude, or simply a general orientation toward God. But the verse is operational. It assumes a conflict is already happening. It means that two kingdoms are already competing for the same person.

Key Takeaways

  • Galatians 5:16 emphasizes actively choosing to walk in the Spirit amid a conflict between flesh and spirit.
  • The ‘flesh’ represents a spiritual entity influenced by Satan, not just the physical body.
  • Walking in the Spirit requires faith, personal scripture engagement, spiritual fruit production, and endurance in truth.
  • Success in walking in the Spirit reveals spiritual maturity, which requires continuous obedience, not a one-time event.
  • Believers should reflect on their walk in the Spirit and consider the truth of their faith, as outlined in the article.

The New Birth

Many preachers claim that if an unsaved person accepts Christ as their Savior, they have experienced the New Birth, or “born again”. However, can such a claim be justified in scripture?

Estimated reading time: 7 minutes

Key Takeaways

  • The New Birth, or being born again, signifies a spiritual transformation initiated by God, which allows one to perceive the state of God’s kingdom.
  • This transformation parallels the natural birth, where God’s word acts as the seed together with the human heart as the spiritual soil.
  • As an unborn child
  • The New Birth addresses the curse of sin inherited from Adam and Eve, enabling direct spirit-to-spirit communication with God once a person is born again.
  • Being born again is a prerequisite for salvation, and one’s spiritual growth is guided by biblical teachings and truths.
  • The article encourages readers to verify its claims with trusted church members and invites comments for discussion.

I question this because of my own ‘New Birth’ experience (John 3:8). What happened at this time was that God placed a “new heart” within me (Ezek 36:26). This experience allowed me to “see” the state of God’s kingdom inside the churches, which to me was horrific.

Let me explain.

The Dietary Needs of Our ‘Inner Man’

Location-of-Spiritual-Organs

Part 1 of the Spirit, Soul and the Body series examined the spiritual ‘organs’ God has provided to us within our “Inner Man“. This article examines how God has stated in scripture what the dietary needs of Our Inner Man represent.

Estimated reading time: 9 minutes

All living creatures on Earth that God has made require food to not only grow into maturity, but to prevent from dying.  This is because any shortage of food leads to starvation and death.  The same goes for the human soul, which needs an appropriate spiritual diet for our Inner Man to grow and to thrive.

Key Takeaways

  • This article examines the dietary needs of our Inner Man and highlights its importance for spiritual growth.
  • Christians must regularly ‘feed’ their Inner Man on God’s word to prevent spiritual starvation.
  • The dietary needs vary by maturity stages: ‘Babes,’ ‘Little Children,’ and ‘Strong Young Men’ require different spiritual nourishment.
  • Feeding the Inner Man correctly protects against spiritual dangers and promotes growth in faith.
  • The article encourages Christians to assess their current spiritual diet and consider their growth progression.
“… but though OUR OUTWARD [physical] MAN perish [through ageing], yet THE INWARD [spiritual] MAN is renewed day by day [by feeding upon God's words].”  (2 Cor 4:16)
“That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in THE INNER MAN;”  (Eph 3:16)

Are you one of Abraham’s ‘Spiritual Children’?

Abraham's sacrificial offering of Isaac to God

If Christians hope to acquire eternal Salvation, the Bible says they must become one of Abraham’s spiritual children!

Key Takeaways

  • Christians must become Abraham’s ‘Spiritual Children’ to attain eternal Salvation by demonstrating faith in God.
  • Abraham’s testing by God reflects the need for Christians to exhibit ‘WORKS OF FAITH’ alongside belief.
  • Initial Salvation comes from faith alone, while Final Salvation requires obedience, love and works for God above all else.
  • The comparison between Abraham and Christians shows that both must love and obey God to ensure their entry into Heaven.
  • Christians today must strive for spiritual maturity and perform works like Christ to fulfill their discipleship.

The Wise and Foolish Virgins

The Bible contains many truths in the parable of the Wise and Foolish Virgins that preachers prefer to ignore. It is because of this that many Foolish Christians will be left-behind after the Rapture.

This article looks at what each of the symbols represent in this parable. This is to allow Christians to appreciate how significant this message from Jesus is. It represents a warning that highlights what events will take place leading up to the (Pre-Trib) Rapture.

Estimated reading time: 6 minutes

Key Takeaways

  • The parable of the wise and foolish virgins serves as a warning about the Rapture, highlighting the need for spiritual preparedness.
  • The ‘oil’ symbolizes Bible truths learned through study and life experiences, essential for spiritual understanding.
  • Wise virgins possess enough oil, while foolish virgins lack sufficient biblical knowledge and preparation.
  • Christians receive oil through instruction from God the Father, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit.
  • The article emphasizes the importance of being a wise virgin to avoid being left behind after the Rapture.

Parable of the Education System

Parable of the Education System

Jesus Christ used parables to describe what the Kingdom of Heaven was like. This article represents a modern-day parable of the education system. As such systems of education are found in many countries, they are used to illustrate the Biblical truth about Salvation and how God expects His people to progress and mature from beginning (Initial Salvation) to the end (Final Salvation).

The scripture verse that underscores the message in this post is this:

“It is written in the prophets, And THEY [ALL truly 'born-again' Christians] shall be ALL TAUGHT [PERSONALLY] of God [the Father]. Every [truly 'born-again'] man [or woman] therefore that hath HEARD, and hath LEARNED of [God] THE FATHER, COMETH UNTO ME [Jesus at the Rapture].” (John 6:45)

Estimated reading time: 11 minutes

Key Takeaways

  • The article presents a modern-day parable of the education system, illustrating the spiritual journey from Initial Salvation to Final Salvation.
  • Just as students progress through educational phases, Christians must grow in faith and understanding to achieve eternal life.
  • The parable details five levels of spiritual maturity: Kindergarten, Primary, Secondary, University, and Post Graduate levels of faith.
  • Each level requires Christians to engage in studying scripture and performing good works, ultimately leading to spiritual fruitfulness.
  • The message warns against reliance on human teachings and emphasizes the necessity of Bible-based knowledge for salvation, highlighting the importance of progressing in faith.

Presenting — Jesus Christ’s TEN Commandments

Christ’s Commandments written on the tables of the human heart

Jesus Christ presented His Ten Commandments in the form of warnings that Christians should take notice, that their Salvation is at risk. If they ignore these warnings, they will NOT inherit eternal life with Him.

In this, Jesus said:

“If ye love me, keep my commandments.” (John 14:15)

The above verse could also be interpreted as saying:

“If ye [really and sincerely] love me [as you claim you do, then], keep [within your heart and OBEY each of] my commandments.” (John 14:15)

Recently I discovered the following Ten Commandments of Jesus that are expressed in the form of ‘negative commandments’. In this, they are presented as warnings from Jesus for every Christian to take notice.  As an example, one warning in John 3:5 says they “…CANNOT ENTER INTO THE KINGDOM OF GOD”.

Paradise in Hell?

Burning in flames - No Salvation!

Do you know the Bible reveals there are five compartments within Hell? Most Christians will acknowledge there is a “hell” but know little more than that. But what about there being a Paradise in Hell, you say?

Estimated reading time: 6 minutes

Key Takeaways

  • The Bible describes five compartments of Hell. This includes Paradise and Hades, separated by a great gulf.
  • When Jesus died, He went to Paradise in Hell to preach to the spirits of the Old Testament saints awaiting redemption.
  • After three days and nights, Christ was resurrected from His death and became our High Priest in Heaven. He did this by offering His blood as the ultimate sacrifice.
  • Paradise in Hell has been empty for 2,000 years because truly ‘born-again’ Christians go directly to Heaven upon death.
  • To avoid Hell, Christians must obey the Apostle Paul’s Gospel, also referred to as ‘My Gospel.’

I recently read a blog post where the author believed Christ did NOT go to Hell. He explained the basis of his beliefs, but I reject his claims.

Understanding My Gospel

The Apostle Paul termed “My Gospel’ and his other teachings a “mystery”. He therefore required Christians to develop knowledge, wisdom and understanding of the scriptures (Col 1:9) to attain spiritual maturity so as to fully appreciate what he was saying.

Paul also stated that “OBEDIENCE of the faith” (Rom 16:26) is a basic requirement of Salvation. Such “Obedience” must be understood and applied in the Christian life (Rom 10:16) for salvation to be achieved.

The ‘Mystery’ of the Gospel

If Paul considered ‘My Gospel’ to be a “mystery”, why then are the modern gospels so simple in their presentation?  Could it be that there is MORE to the True Gospel of Jesus Christ than most Christians have been told or believe? Have the modern gospels replaced “obedience” with tolerance and “love” (Phil 1:17)?
