Salvation

An Overview of the Apostle Paul’s Gospel

This post provides an overview of the Apostle Paul’s Gospel. It highlights a number of requirements that the Bible indicates Christians today have “NOT ALL OBEYED THE GOSPEL“:

"But they [meaning today's Christians] have NOT ALL OBEYED THE [Apostle Paul's] GOSPEL. For Esaias [Isaiah 53:1] saith, Lord, who [among God's people] hath believed our report(Romans 10:16)

The gospel that most Christians today believe is based upon this verse “…For BY GRACE ARE YE SAVED THROUGH FAITH; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9 NOT OF WORKS, lest any man should boast.” (Ephesians 2:8-9).

But where does it say in these verses there are CONDITIONS associated with Salvation that MUST BE OBEYED?

Could it be that there are two gospels in play here – where one is by faith and grace alone; and the other required “WORKS“?

  1. The Gospel of Jesus Christ that is used to attract unsaved sinners into God’s kingdom is through FAITH and GRACE alone.
  2. The Apostle Paul’s Gospel that he termed “My Gospel” that (if understood and implemented) will bring forth the required quantity of spiritual “fruit” unto God through “GOOD WORKS“:
"I [Jesus] am the true vine, and [God] my Father is the husbandman [or gardener].  2 Every branch [or Christian grafted] in me that beareth not fruit he [God the Father] taketh away [for later burning - verse 6]: and every branch [or Christian] that BEARETH FRUIT, he purgeth [or prunes] it [back], that it may bring forth MORE FRUIT."  (John 15:1, 2, 6)
"But he that received [the spiritual] seed [of God's word] into the good ground [of his heart] is he that HEARETH THE WORD, and UNDERSTANDETH IT; which also BEARETH FRUIT, and bringeth forth, some an HUNDREDFOLD, some SIXTY, some THIRTY."  (Matthew 13:23)

The difference between the Gospel of Jesus Christ and the Apostle Paul’s Gospel is this:

  • The Gospel of Jesus Christ is to be believed and accepted BY GRACE and FAITH ALONE (Ephesians 2:8-9). This represents the lowest level of faith needed to enter into God’s kingdom. I have termed it INITIAL SALVATION.
  • On the contrary, The Apostle Paul’s Gospel MUST BE OBEYED for Salvation to be attained when one’s life on Earth comes to an end – Romans 10:16! It requires “GOOD WORKS” to be performed by Christians. I have termed it FINAL SALVATION.

If Paul’s Gospel is OBEYED, it will prepare the Christian for spending eternity with their Creator as it aims to establish the Christian “perfect”:
"...and this also we [i.e. all the apostles] wish, EVEN YOUR PERFECTION." (2 Corinthians 13:9; Matthew 5:48)

The purpose of ‘The Gospel of Jesus Christ’

God designed the Gospel of Jesus Christ to be used as ‘BAIT‘ by Christ’s ‘fishermen’. This is used to save the souls that are “lost” in Satan’s kingdom by bringing them into God’s kingdom.

The fishing for lost souls is required to be performed by every Christian through the use of personal evangelism (Matthew 24:14):

And he [Jesus] said unto them [meaning every Christian], Go ye into all the world, and PREACH THE GOSPEL [of Jesus Christ] to every creature [to tell them why Christ came to the Earth to save their soul from spending eternity in Hell].” (Mark 16:15)
I will make you fishers of men’s souls – Mark 4:19

The most basic version of the Gospel of Jesus Christ is stated in the scriptures by Paul in this manner:

For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;  4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:”  (1 Corinthians 15:3-5)

Far more detail can be added to this abbreviated version of the Gospel that could be preached to an unsaved individual.

Is Gospel “BAIT” sufficient for Salvation – at one’s death?

There are Christians today who have spent many years sitting in church pews listening to and ONLY embracing the Gospel of Jesus Christ for their salvation. The Bible indicates that no one can rely on BAIT for their (Final) Salvation.

This is because we are “CREATED” (at the ‘new birth‘ – John 3:3-8) to undertake “WORKS” that are spiritual in nature (John 14:12). We are also expected by God to demonstrate that we are indeed God’s “SONS AND DAUGHTERS” – 2 Corinthians 6:18):

"God is a Spirit: and they that worship him [in the manner He requires] MUST WORSHIP HIM IN SPIRIT AND IN TRUTH."  (John 4:24)
"For we are the [TRUE (spiritual)] circumcision [of the heart - Romans 2:29], which worship God in the spirit, and rejoice in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh [or religious-based beliefs]."  (Philippians 3:3)

Are there TWO GOSPELS that relate to Salvation?

The scripture verse below indicates that Christians are to GROW IN THEIR FAITH (Matthew 21:21).

"We are bound to thank God always for you, brethren, as it is meet, because that YOUR FAITH GROWETH EXCEEDINGLY..." (2 Thessalonians 1:3)
"Jesus answered and said unto them, Verily I say unto you, If ye have faith [that matured considerably from that of a 'seed'], and DOUBT NOT...ye shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; IT SHALL BE DONE." (Matthew 21:21)

Scripture also indicates Christians are to produce the required quantity of spiritual “FRUIT” that is necessary for entry into Heaven (John 15:2, 6). Simply believing and placing one’s faith in the Gospel of Jesus Christ will not achieve that requirement.

In the verse below, the phrase “…the principles of the doctrine of Christ” refers to the Gospel of Jesus Christ:

"Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ [or the Gospel of Jesus Christ behind, so as to spiritually mature in one's faith], let us go on unto PERFECTION [Matthew 5:48]: not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of [one's INITIAL level of] faith toward God,"  (Hebrews 6:1)

Therefore, the Gospel of Jesus Christ is used for evangelistic purposes, while the Apostle Paul’s Gospel is to used to “PERFECT” Christians for their eventual entry into Heaven:

"...and this also we [i.e. all the apostles] wish, EVEN YOUR PERFECTION." (2 Corinthians 13:9; Matthew 5:48)

Paul’s Gospel Summarized

Paul’s Gospel has a number of features that many Christians are not aware of. These are summarized below:

  • Paul termed his Gospel My Gospel‘ as stated in Romans 2:16, 16:25 and 2 Timothy 2:8.
  • Paul did NOT receive it from an angel or from any man (Galatians 1:12).
  • Paul received his Gospel directly from Jesus Christ – (Galatians 1:12).
  • God the Father intends using Jesus Christ (as His judge) to determine if Christians have OBEYED or DISOBEYED Paul’s Gospel (Romans 2:16). This will determine their entry (or not) into Heaven.
  • Christians are to KNOW what the MYSTERY of Paul’s Gospel represents (Romans 16:25; Ephesians 6:19)
  • Christians are required to IMPLEMENT what the MYSTERY of Paul’s Gospel represents (Romans 16:25; Ephesians 6:19)
  • Christians are required to become “spiritually-minded” – Romans 8:6; 1 Corinthians 2:14 and no longer religiously-minded (Romans 8:7).
  • Each Christian is to seek the various spiritual gifts that are needed for their ministry to function (1 Corinthians 12:8-11)
  • ALL Christians are required by God to believe and “…speak the same thing” (1 Corinthians 1:10)
  • Each Christian is required to become a spiritual member of Christ’s spiritual body on the Earth. The scripture identifies some of these ‘members’ (or ministries) as an:
    • Eye ministry (1 Corinthians 12: 16)
    • Ear ministry (1 Corinthians 12:16)
    • Nose ministry (1 Corinthians 12:17)
    • Hand ministry (1 Corinthians 12:15)
    • Foot ministry (1 Corinthians 12:15)
    • Other unseen ministries are referred to here – 1 Corinthians 12:23.
The True Church of Jesus Christ
  • There are to be “…NO DIVSIONS BETWEEN CHRISTIANS; [such as church denominations]. (1 Corinthians 1:10)
  • Christians are to “…be PERFECTLY JOINED TOGETHER in the SAME MIND and in the SAME JUDGMENT.” (1 Corinthians 1:10)
  • Collectively (as the members of the Body of Christ), Christians are to wage spiritual warfare on those in Satan’s kingdom (Ephesians 6:11-13)
  • Collectively (as the members of the Body of Christ), Christians are to walk in the Spirit as representing the combined members of the Body of Christ walking on the Earth (Romans 8:1).

Christ’s Commands Summarized – John 14:15

Jesus Christ requires ALL Christians to GROW – spiritually. Such growth occurs as a seed grows and matures into a mature plant that produces an abundance of spiritual “FRUIT” unto God (John 15:1-8; Matthew 13:8).

Sower, seeds and soil in the hearts
  • Jesus says Christians MUST experience the NEW BIRTH (John 3:7). This is where God gives the Christian a NEW HEART and NEW SPIRIT (Ezekiel 36:26).
  • If Christians are truly “born-again“, these should be able to explain the meaning of the following verse in practical terms:
"The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: SO IS EVERY ONE THAT IS BORN [again] OF THE SPIRIT."  (John 3:8)
  • Each Christian is to LOVE all others members of Christ’s spiritual body on Earth. This is to demonstrate they are Christ’s disciples (Ephesians 4:16; John 13:35).
  • Jesus requires Christians to collectively KNOW what the “will of God is. They are required to UNDERSTAND and then DO His will:
"For I [Jesus] came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but THE WILL OF HIM THAT SENT ME ."  (John 6:38)
"For WHOSOEVER [as a son or daughter of God] SHALL DO THE WILL OF MY FATHER which is in heaven, the same is my BROTHER, and SISTER, and MOTHER. [or, family member in Heaven]"  (Matthew 12:50)

Summary

Christians have been lulled into believing one of the many false gospels being preached in the churches today. Paul stated that this same thing happened in his day (2 Corinthians 11:4).

In this, the Apostle lamented in the same manner as both Isaiah and Jesus did in their days that God’s people would NOT OBEY what He said to them (Isaiah 53:1; John 12:38):

But they [meaning today’s Christians] HAVE NOT ALL OBEYED THE [Apostle Paul’s] GOSPEL. For Esaias [Isaiah 53:1] saith, Lord, who hath believed our report?”  (Romans 10:16)

This disobedience as seen by God (through ‘religious’ deception) is the same means that Satan used to trick Adam and Eve into believing his lie (2 Corinthians 11:3).

"Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the Lord God had made. And he said unto the woman, YEA, HATH GOD SAID, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden [back then - or today, Paul's Gospel is irrelevant]?" (Genesis 3:1)

As Adam and Eve lost their eternal life with God, Christians will fail in the same manner. See Luke 21:8 and Genesis 3:6, and then read this warning Jesus Christ provided below.

"Then said one unto him, Lord, ARE THERE FEW [Christians] THAT BE [Finally] SAVED? And he said unto them, 24 STRIVE TO ENTER IN AT THE STRAIT GATE: for MANY [Christians], I say unto you, WILL SEEK TO ENTER IN [after the Rapture has happened], AND SHALL NOT BE ABLE.

25 When once the master of the house [i.e. Jesus Christ] is risen [back] up [to Heaven with His spiritual Body of Believers], and hath shut to the door [of Heaven - Revelation 4:1], and ye [the Christians left-behind on Earth] begin to stand without, and to knock at the door [of Heaven], saying, Lord, Lord, open unto us; and he shall answer and say unto you, I KNOW YE NOT WHENCE YE ARE [John 10:27]:

26 Then shall ye begin to say, We have eaten and drunk [the Communion elements] in thy presence, and thou hast taught [home group Bible studies] in our streets. 27 But he [Jesus] shall say, I tell you, I KNOW YE NOT WHENCE YE ARE [John 10:27]; DEPART FROM ME, all ye WORKERS OF INIQUITY.

28 There shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth, when ye shall see Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, and all the prophets, in the kingdom of God, AND YOU YOURSELVES THRUST OUT." (Luke 13:22-28)

In Satan’s deception of Adam and Eve, God was testing their OBEDIENCE or DISOBEDIENCE towards Him (1 Timothy 2:14). In this similar challenge, Christians today MUST decide WHAT REPRESENTS THE TRUE GOSPEL THAT MUST BE OBEYED

In the day [of Judgement] when God [the Father] shall judge the secrets of [Christian] men [and women] by Jesus Christ ACCORDING TO MY GOSPEL.”  (Romans 2:16)

After having a "born-again" experience in 1990, this changed my life. I have come to love reading the King James Bible and have studied it exhaustively. Through this, Jesus Christ has shown me that the many and varied 'gospels' about today in the various churches today are false, and there are NONE that will save any Christian from spending eternity in Hell. The ONLY Gospel that "Saves" Christians from this fate is Paul's Gospel, which he termed "My Gospel" (Rom 2:16) and that is what this website/blog and YouTube videos explain and promote.
